The New Fire/States Of A Woman

The New Fire/States of a Woman is a series of expressive abstract paintings that explores emotional inner states beyond conventional ideas of femininity. Rather than focusing on femininity as image, symbol, or social role, the project turns inward—toward sensation, tension, vulnerability, desire, force, and transformation as lived experience.

Femininity

Femininity appears here as a range of states—contradictory, conflicting, and often unresolved. Sensitivity exists alongside endurance, tenderness with tension, fragility with resilience, playfulness with sensuality, warmth with sharpness. These experiences are allowed to exist without explanation or definition.

The New Fire

Fire runs through the work as a way of approaching these states. It acts as a generative force—a spark, a pulse, a source of energy. It can be quiet or intense, contained or expanding. It carries passion, connection, transformation, and the courage to change. Through different shades and intensities, the works move across this spectrum.

Visual Language

The paintings are built through layered mixed media, including acrylic, pigments, soft pastel, and oil pastel. Reds and pinks form the core, shifting in density and depth. Texturally, surfaces are worked, erased, dissolved, and rebuilt. Marks appear and disappear, creating a sense of movement, as if something is constantly forming and dissolving.

Intention

Through these works, I invite you to explore your own inner fire, the complexity of states we tend to silence or simplify, in their full spectrum. Recognize, observe, and allow your own unique palette of states to be felt fully, without the need to resolve, fix or hide them.
